The pre set numbers ensure only trusted contacts of choice can be contacted. The number is not listed in a directory, therefore unauthorised calls are minimised and inbound telephone number replaced periodically to reduce the risk of abuse by spam selling.

Care home staff told us that its can be difficult to contact an individuals family members when there is an urgent need to advise them of an incident. They may have to call multiple numbers, leave voicemail messages and then wait for returned calls.
